Hi All, Can anybody tell what are the possibilities of adding a citation in the PhD thesis after the degree is awarded, if the authors come to know as the citation is missing.
Great and honest question. Dear Syed, just put your thesis on RG, and add that citation as an author's comment. Do we not all make mistakes? Those who admit will have a great lesson learned. Congratulations on such learning.
Thank you! Mohammad and Miranda for your comments and appreciation. Indeed, the intention is to acknowledge one's work and respect the originality of the work.
I think after the Ph.D degree is awarded no modification is done by University but you publish your thesis on research sites and get citation for your research.
But you gof t citation for your researach whiche reletaed to your degree subject and included this topic in thesis before awarded Ph.D degree. at that time status your thesis will very high, May be your University passed grant for publishing your thesis.
No work is perfect. Even the PhD examining committee did not pick up your error. Sure, you do not want to be accused of plagiarism. PhD degrees can be retracted if intentional plagiarism is proven. You have come clean. So now insert and glue a Corrigendum Slip into the back cover of all printed copies of your PhD.
Insert a footnote at the end of all known electronic copies. Inform the examiners you have taken these steps. Thanks for being honest.
