I think that we should be cautions about judging other people's research interests. Just because I may not be interested does not mean that YOUR interest is invalid.
The most common kind sof question I see in RG is from inexperienced researchers who need advice about how to proceed. I think that helping such people is a very worthy thing to do for more experienced researchers, and RG a convenient kind of forum to provide that kind of advice.
In fact, I would like to see RG adopt status updates, similar to other consumer social media platforms, so we can get to know each other better.
I hope that RG admins and supervisors will find a way to bind RG score directly and only with the scientific production and the recommendations of scientific contributions of the researcher.
This way RG score will become pretty good indicator of the researcher activities.
In deed this must be one of the main goals of RG foundation ,but actually it lost this goals in most cases and become as location for RG scores increase through non scientific questions and to exchange recommendation between colleagues for the same purpose. For instance i have asking many scientific questions but i didn,t receive any answer yet.

Should be, but..however; by some "non-scientific questions/answers, you can get a valuable insights in different cultures, attitudes and opinions, which might help your scientific research indirectly.
I think RG is supposed to be an academic technical environment that provides an opportunity to have a sort of academic engagement among academicians and not among RG score hunters! Some would ask questions like: How can you advice a person you love! Wawww!
I think the question is neither judging others' research interests nor the young researchers who need (scientific) advice. In some cases a researcher answers is MORE important than his research contributions.
this question only criticizes the way some of RG members are using question section just to increase their RG score by sharing non-scientific questions.
of course, someone will say : there's no such a thing as non-scientific question.but in my opinion (After all) I want RG to stay a SCIENTIFIC social media platform, I don't want it to become just another social media platform.
With respect, I disagree with it. It is true that there are few members who raise some "uncommon" questions but we never know the background of the questions. Research is a limit less ocean and everyone analyze different things from different perspectives. One question maybe awkward for me but maybe of great importance for other. Maybe I am not able to see the other side of the picture.
Someone once said "When the purpose of a thing is unknown, abuse is inevitable". More so, some controversial questions are born out of the greedy intention to increase RG scores as it is controversial and causes mixed interaction between researchers. In fact, I have seen others duplicate tending questions of other people and paste on their wall just to earn points. In as much as many abuse this forum. It would be wrong to generalize intentions base on once perceptions of the field. Like earlier answers, research is limitless and we may not understand the background of many of the question asked. More so, how level of understanding differs. While we have established scientist on the platform, we also have student who knows very little and willing to ask even the basis. Not until last year, anyone could sign up for RG with any email address. However, RG has soon check mated the influx of people by regulating sign up to use of institutional email.
In summary, there is nothing too good that can't be abuse. It is the kind of world we live in. Also, intentions are diverse, hence a general rule of thumb could be very misleading.
