Basically I grafted (I guess) an organic moiety (diphenyldiazene based) bearing a triethoxysilane group to silicon nanoparticles (100 nm size) through silanization. The reaction was pretty simple, 15 mg of the nanoparticles, redispersed in 5 mL of PhMe, then 12 mg of the organic moiety. Kept under stirring for 24 h at 50ºC...After sedimentation (14,000 rpm, 5 min) I rinsed the sample with EtOH in order to remove the excess of the organic material and then I observed that after sonication for a few minutes the solid aggregates (brown solid is deposited in the bottom of the vial)...I thought sonication for 5 hours will lead to fragmentation, but I still see the solid in the bottom of the flask....

Any suggestion?

Thanks for the help
