With the emergence of humanising applications, such as BypassGPT, does the role of Turnitin becomes redundant? Already I am noticing a reduction of the standard deviation for take-home assignments (by one third in some cases). Surely, we are at a disruptive stage for open book exams? But I don't see anyone adapting (other than educating the students on the 'evils' of AI use). Why are we not adapting to this new norm - I know that it allows for unethical behaviour, but telling people it is 'bad', is about as effective as telling a smoker about the deleterious effects of cigarettes? There are some mitigating steps that can be employed, such as an oral examination, but with 300 students and one lecturer, that becomes impractical. What are the steps being taken at your institution?
