Our Agilent HPLC have the following modules and connected to Waters Quattro Micro.
Binary pump: G1312A FW: A.06.10 (can not be emulated)
ALS: G1329A FW: A.06.10 (can be emulated as G1313A)
DAD: G1315D FW: A.06.10 (can not be emulated)
The Masslynx version: 4.1 SCN 805
Windows7
Mass works well and all modules shown to be connected and recognized by Masslynx. The problem starts when the we want the instrument to run a sample. Sometimes it starts but do not stop. Sometimes it wont work at all. I think the problem is related to contact closure of autosampler. From Waters notes, there should be an event tag in "modify agilent 1100" page, but I couldn't find it. So, my question is:
1-Do this combination works?
2-Why I cant find event tag? Is it related Masslynx version or my modules firmware?
Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Hi Ammar,
you have to downgrade the firmware of your Agilent modules (if possible). MassLynx only works with 1100 modules. Some years ago we had a similar problem. A 1260 binary pump worked only with MassLynx after downgrading the firmware. Pressure limit after downgrade was 400 bar. I hope this helps you.

I don't remember the firmware number but in your case I would contact an Agilent technician. Maybe these guys can help you for solving your problem.

I've decided to use the instrument without autosampler for a while. I will use manual injector instead. I know this is not good way to solve the problem and will try to find the answer. Since I got the instrument works properly after removing the ALS, it seems the firmware is not the problem in this case.

This procedure assumes that the Agilent (HP) 82350 PCI GBIP adapter has already been physically installed in the instrument control PC
1.If installed , remove all National instruments GBIP software
2.If installed, remove both the Keysight IO Libraries Suite and the Keysight Communications Fabric
3.Install the drivers for the Agilent (HP) 82350 PCI GBIP adapter
◦You may see a "Welcome to the Found New Hardware Wizard" message as the operating system searches for drivers for the GBIP card. If so, click Cancel
a.Insert the MassLynx installation DVD and browse to the \Applications folder folder
b.Run the HP IO Lib installer (rev L or later) and follow the instructions in the installer wizard ◾A Visual C++ 2005 prerequisite may have to be installed c.Select the Typical or Full Installation option d.Click Install at the final screen. e.The Agilent SICL and VISA IO Libraries files are installed. When the file install is complete, Click the blue Finish button.
f.Verify that the drivers have been installed correctly by checking “Agilent Technologies 82350B PCI GPIB” is listed under “GPIB Interfaces” in Device Manager (Right click My Computer >Manage).
g.Close the Computer Management window.
4.Configure the IO Interface of the card
a.Click the blue and white “IO” icon in the task bar to run the Agilent Connection Expert
b.Close the welcome screen
c.For the 82350B card, the SICL Interface ID must be changed to hpib7. To do this click the “Change Properties” button, click in the SICL Interface ID and remove the gpib0 name and replace it with hpib7. Click OK.
5.Configuring GPIB addresses of the A1100/1200 modules
a.Attach IEEE cables from the 82350B card to the all A1100/1200 System modules. Cycle power on all the HP modules.
b.Confirm that the module that the IEEE connection is going through (detector, autosampler or pump) can be seen on the bus in the Connection Expert window. If the device cannot be seen on the bus it may indicate that the module requires powering down and then powering back up again
c.Set the IEEE addresses of the module (obtained through the “game boy” controller on the stack) by double clicking on the specific module listed under the “HPIB7” interface.
d.Launch MassLynx. In the MassLynx Inlet Editor, select Tools - Instrument Configuration and select the appropriate Agilent 1100/1200 modules communication.
e.On the Configure HPIB page, set the IEEE addresses for the modules at the Configure HPIB communication tab, set the appropriate addresses for each module and the corresponding PC connection.
f.On this same page, click the checkbox next to Use HP-IO libraries for communications to select it (the default state is non-selected), click Next
g.Click Finish to complete inlet configuration
◦Note: In the “Select Configuration Addresses box you may see that only one of the modules has an address which may be displayed as something similar to “hpib7,22” This is a bug related to displaying the addresses and can be ignored. You should now have successful communications with your system
