With due respect I differ with this opinion that African Music has it's own attraction and the reasons are simple.

MUSIC by default has it's own attraction and that can be checked on a baby that it does not matter which language, culture or national that music belongs, the kid would possibly respond to it proving my points in the first paragraph.

What I believe is our response to music is based on our own (conscious) understanding which is more like a response to any particular language that WE know otherwise, it would all be Greek to a listner.

CONCLUSION:

Our conscious mind relate the music, language or any matter to how WE look at it and how much WE are related to it by our own interest that would determine the value of it otherwise, it is nothing to one!

All rhythmic music can create an altered state and has effects of neural entrainment. Indeed, in a number of cultures music is used to assist in inducing a trance state. I agree that African music have it's own mysticism. Mysticism in this regard might not be related to voodooism or something like that but peculiarities of African music. African music is embedded with several nuances peculiar to each region and culture of African tradition. For example, some music percussions such as drum might be peculiar to certain genealogy. For example, in Yoruba land, Ayan family are accustomed to drumming and reputed to be expert in it. Not that some other people cannot drum effectively, but the Ayan family is believed to be more talented. This I believe also operates in other climes.
