For linux, we can check what are the programmes or apps running in the background by using 'top' command. Unfortunately, I don't know any such thing in windows and since the gaussian calculation had been running for hours, I don't want to start from the beginning or use the restart file. Is there any technical way to know that gaussian is still running in the background in case of accidental closing of the window from which it was running.

- To see what programs are running in the background do one of the following to open the Task Manager
- Right-click the Taskbar and click on Task Manager.
- Open Start, do a search for Task Manager and click the result.
- Use the Ctrl + Shift + Esc keyboard shortcut.
- Use the Ctrl + Alt + Del keyboard shortcut and click on Task Manager.
- Use the Windows key + X keyboard shortcut to open the power-user menu and click on Task Manager.
