Dear Experts,
I am new to thermal radiation modeling. I am currently trying to model fluid flow inside a glass tube containing twisted tape and water as working fluid. Owing to the fact that the glass and water are semi-transparent materials, I use the "Discrete ordinate" method. As only a small part of the radiation is absorbed by these semi-transparent materials; should I check the box "Participate in radiation" for twisted tape? If so, I am wondering about the absorption coefficient of steel. How should I obtain that?

,Thank you for your response. However, the absorption coefficient in Fluent is given in [1/m]. I have no idea how to convert the dimensionless absorption coefficient to the required in fluent.
The box "Participate in radiation" should be checked only for fluid zones. So, if the twisted tape is modeled as a solid cell zone, it is useless.
