Does anybody know any good papers where the number of neurons (or neuronal densities) are reported for different cerebral areas in humans and, if possible, also in primates? I've already read the recent papers by Dr. Herculano-Houzel and colleagues, but there they only give numbers for major brain regions (cerebellum, cortex and rest of brain). On the other hand, I've found several papers looking at these numbers in very localized areas of the frontal lobes or, instead, of the primary visual system. Since I am interested in all specific cerebral areas (lets say, all cerebral lobes), these papers are useful but of little help, so... Anyone has any comment on this issue?
