Continuing research on diseases of unknown etiology it is found that Non tubercular mycobacterial infection (NTM) causes progressive sensei-neural deafness. NTM bacteria was considered nonpathogenic till botanist Ernest Runyon in 1959 found out that many of these species of mycobacterium (other than leprosy and tuberculosis) are pathogenic. Till now there are about 120 of them found. Most of them are found causing various diseases which are considered diseases of unknown etiology till now. Singly or in combination they produce scores of diseases, nerve deafness is one among these diseases (or symptoms considered diseases). Management of mycobacterial disease causes arrest, improvement or cure. The original article would be found in Research Gate publisher, Germany.
