Due to the fact that due to the SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) coronavirus pandemic, education is provided remotely online as part of e-learning, an important issue in improving the processes of remote education is to use the latest achievements of ICT, Internet and Industry 4 information technologies .o implemented to the currently developed teaching techniques and instruments. As part of e-learning, it is necessary to use the latest versions, enriched with new functions and tools of online videoconferencing platforms.

Some observations below may lead to a fruitful discussion.

1. Till 2000 the basic motivation for education was twofold. One sheer intelluctual curiousity. Second education led to employability. there were practically no idea of the earth as a

planet with limited resources.

2. Now the economy is fast approaching zero employability for

the old Brick and mortar type of economy as a result of automation and computerisation. This has led to a peculiar strategy where some countries are contemplating fixed income per person whether they actually work or not.

3. Artificial Intelligence ,virtual reality, enhanced reality, and genetic editing, pose many challenges for defining human purpose and ethics.

4. Education is what remains after one has forgotten what one has learned in school. — Albert Einstein.

There are many more possible view to consider along these lines

but it might be worthwhile to see what is the present environment and requirement wrt education.

1. People have to reskill themselves often.

2.It is important to "learn how to learn "on a steep learning curve in a interdisciplinary field.

3. Team execution is important in the real world. Except perhaps in mathematics it is well nigh impossible to venture alone in any field.

4. Many former distinct areas of learning are no longer isolated but an amalgamation of art,maths,physics, chemistry nd most important BIOLOGY is needed to sustain the progress of Humankind.

5. The last frontier which challenges humans is conquering SPACE.

Possible solutions from education perspective are;

1. Huge amount of maths as a core basic subject irrespective of discipline.Not the rigorous type (an imortant field which can be

separated out as research ) but the fun type with possible real aplications .

2. Core Basic sciences of physics ,chemistry and bilogy

3.Core Arts including literature, music ,painting , culture, ethics.

4. An examination system which is open in the sense that a huge question bank is made available and students are allowed to disuss and garner solutions fro the internet and from team discussions.There is no need for secrecy in exam questions which actually is counter productive as far as "learning how to learn " is concerned and really there is no applicayion of the mind.

The idea of individual meritocracy has to be largely abandoned

because except in maths and the Arts it seems impossible to attribute contributions to participants.

It seems to me a very interesting proposal. The main change may lie in conducting collaborative and not individual exams as is normally done in the face-to-face training model. It would include in the proposal the inclusion of key elements and others that allow us to observe if it can distinguish those contents of the assessment that are essential to learn.

Yes ..that is the idea. In brief and a little more formative step:

1. Have a general degree course consisting of Maths Science Arts , with no special individual exams. Students attempt a bank of questions in each discipline as many attempts as they feel so

as to get a basic rating of their skill acquired. The aim here is to ensure a critical mass of knowledge which will enable "self learning" on a continuous basis. Students learn to communicate and co-operate , a fundamental skill required in the future. This avoids a very large useless effort to maintain security of questions and useless rote learning. Faculty can really devote time for continuously adjusting syllabus and question banks based on progress in various fields, as well as on writing books, youtubes and impactful online presentations . State of the art can be more easily and steplessly introduced

2. Award distinction after basic graduatio only when they submit paper for any standard publication that are strictly evaluated both by experts and readers. This will enable more useful application of knowledge . They learn ethics of avoiding plagiarising and learn to accept harsh criticism of their work .

3. Award higher degrees based on field work combined with deep analysis of their contribution.

Thank you for your interest. I was not able to access the conent in the link shown. Would it possible to highlight main points here.

The main motivation for the present discussion (as perceived by me) is :1. The age of internet makes for an environment where excellent and beautiful sources of knowledge is freely available worldwide .

2.As a result of 1 it is possble to self learn almost any subject.

3. More imprtant borroeing from the theory of Quality in engineering , by focussing on secrecy and strict vigilant examination procedures , we are living in an outmoded world of "Inspect and Reject" where as actually we should move towards "Quality Assurance " and into "Zero defect " processing of students. Today each child can learn at her own pace and experience the world from different perspectives. Actually discoveries are made (IMHO) by looking at same things as many do but from a different perpsective. Are we therefore losing many possible discoveries in using just "inspection and reject"philosophy?

Perhaps, applying in format of "flipped classrom" technique, you can get great results. I imagine that you already know technique, and I believe that it can also be applied in remote class evaluations.
