Hello experts, I have a general question about the elastic domain in the case of biaxial bending moment.
Suppose that I have an elastic domain for the sections of my elements. this elastic domain is constructed according to the ultimate bending moments about y and z axis and a constant value of the axial force. more precisely, the x axis of the diagram represents the ultimate My and the y axis represents the ultimate Mz. and also the axial force, which is constant along the entire element influence this diagram by a formula. Now assume that I analyzed my section and I realized that my point lies outside the elastic limit. but since the value of my My is really low compared to the value of Mz (actually the value of Mz hase caused this nonlinearity), do I have to do the moment redistribution also for My? how do I have to know this.

Dear Mohsen Rezaee , in order to give you some suggestion, you should define better the following positions:
1) The problem you speak of is related to bending and axial force in a beam of steel? or reinforced concrete, or what?
2) Which kind of loading path you are considering? Proportional from an elastic load, or not?

The problem is related to reinforced concrete structures. Also the load is proportional to the elastic load. The bending moments at each step are calculated according to the elastic bending moment and then we check if they are outside the elastic domain or not.

since the problem is of a RC beam, I guess that it could be useful for you to read the treatment of the section of RC beams under bending moment and axial force, under hypotheses of Eurocode (That I attach to this message) contained in the book whose cover I give you. The problem under combined My, Mz, and N is a little bit more complex. However I should know the structure (geometry, frame, beam, joints...) in order to give you more useful suggestion. As matter of fact, for a redundant structure, you should follow the response of structure to the linearly varying load, that at every birth of a plastic hinge shows redistribution of stresses, until collapse. Did you already studied elastic-plastic analysis of structures? Let me know, Luciano Nunziante.
