How can respectfull sources collate 200 year old scarce observations to modern accurate measurments to produce unified diagrams?
Compiled sun spot number diagrams dating back to 18th century are thus invalid.
NASA even states here

that between 1650-1715 sun had no spots! lol!
but at 1650 Galileo died and people weren't looking for sun spots for some decades!
Dimis, I agree that modern methods of counting are more precise but don't discount the ancient observations.The eariest sunpot counts were made by the Chinese and Koreans around 800 BC and subsequently many others have been counting.
