Why are Ag nanoparticles black in colour? Should it change colour when suspended in water at low concentrations after ultrasonication?

I have Ag nanopowder (50 nm - 80 nm). Why does the powder look black? Does this mean it is absorbing and not scattering? Should t change colour when suspended in water?
