Can anyone suggest a good camera and lens to use for egg counts (~1mm in diameter)?

I want to use imageJ to count the number of eggs in Gypsy Moth egg masses, but I am not sure what camera and camera lens I would need in order to do this. I have seen a couple of mosquito papers...
