Can someone suggest metabolomics NMR methods of collecting 24hr urine samples and normalizing using ingested non-metabolizing compounds?

Normalization using an internally passed chemical can produce results for a 24hr period thus making total metabolism understood. Know this has been published but can't find the manuscript(s)....
