Pls teach me steps/procedures to simulate WSN in MATLAB/SIMULINK. If i know it i can implement my own logic to life time improvement of WSN. Can help?

I got struck in getting started the simulation of WSN. Even if anyone provide the steps for OPNET, that also would be most welcomed one. Really tough to have hands on exp of basic wsn simulation.
