How do I make a 5mM solution of kynurenic acid?

I need to make a 5mM solution of kynurenic acid to use in organotypic cell culture. I tried to first make 5ml of a 1M solution in 1N NaOH and then make the volume to 50ml by adding 45ml of H20....
