I was wondering if anyone has any experience concerning detection of cytotoxicity of carotenoids, eg crocins and crocetins with alamar blue method.

From extensive research i found that most researchers use MTT method for carotenoids and was wondering why. Is it possible that carotenoids would  interfere with measurements with alamar blue?
