What is the best method for mouse embryonic brain lysis before RNA extraction?

We are interested in the quantification of RNA from zika virus in the brain of embryos. We will use the RNeasy Lipid Tissue kit for extraction.

Has anybody had small, cell-sized, autofluorescent bodies that bind specifically to the glomerular layer after slicing adult olfactory bulbs?

They can be seen in dry slices, right after slicing. I wonder if they are bone pieces but have no idea of why they specifically bind to the GL. Any idea of how to get rid of it?

How reliable is NeuN for labeling neurons? Is it possible it labels other cells too?

I am not sure if the possibility was ever exhausted that it labels other cells like glia.

Does anyone have experience with ERK phosphorylation analysis in Xenopus laevis?

My westerns show only one band and not the typical 42 and 44 KDa bands seen in mammals.
