Why the fractional exponent of Almond-West function (y=yo(1+(x/xc)^n)) has to be less than 1? Exist physical reasons?

The n parameter determined with the Almond-West formalism for my samples is major than 1. In the literature, usually this value is close to 0.7. However I can´t find a reason to reject my results.
