Any experience on gelatin coating of glass slides for autoradiology/histology?

Does anyone use chromalum as a mordant, when coating microscopical/autoradiography slides with gelatin? I only need answers on experience on the difference: - With or without chromalum/mordant.

Does anyone have experience with self-production/handle of serum in immunohistochemistry? Any ideas on method papers that describe the procedure?

Will use porcine serum, to block in IHC both to reduce background and to save resources.
