Could you please advise whether it is necessary to vortex my Trizol lysate containing brain tissue for the purpose of achieving homogenization?

So far I've got very mixed opinions on the matter. I cannot use liquid nitrogen or beads for homoginzation, thereby, would it be ok to use vortex to homogenize tissue? I duobt that it would damage...
