I am also interested in ABS in DR Congo medicinal plant species as well as re-establishing the Peace Corps in the DR Congo particularly in areas of forestry / agroforestry. Have you worked with Peace Corps volunteers in Cameroon? I am a returned Peace Corps volunteer from the Dominican Republic (1993-1995). My area was Environmental Education. Thx, Jennifer
Yes. I am a Kenyan Leakey. No, I have no connections with Peace Corps.
Most of the food tree species double up as medicinal plants. However, the only one in which I have personally looked at for its medicinal properties is Canarium indicum from PNG (see attached). Colleagues have worked with Pygeum africanum and Pausinystalia johimbe. The potential for the selection of elite medicinal trees within wild populations is enormous and an untapped resource.

Peace Corps Cameroon has volunteers in the area of Agriculture that includes: promote smallholder integrated farming systems in which staple food crops, vegetable gardens, trees and small animal husbandry are intermixed on the same piece of land in a harmonized & symbiotic manner where each component supports and benefits from the other, thereby improving the overall productivity. The goals of this project are to intensify and diversify the value and the volume of agricultural production while promoting farming as a business. They also work with West Africa Regional Food Security Partnership on a project called "Feed the Future."
