To prevent diabetes if we are educating community , we can advice physical activity like brisk walking at least 30 min a day for 5 days / week. Can advice locally available low glycaemic index food / fruit items as per the socio- economic status .
Advice to family: There is Indian diabetes risk score comprising of physical activity, family history , waist circumference , age which can be applied ton screen for diabetes risk and further evaluation
Dietary Advice to family of 4: Salt 5gm/day =20 gm for 4 =600 gm per month
Sugar -60 gm/day= 240 gm for 4=7 kg per month
Vegetable oil 4 kg per month
Butter/ Ghee=160 gm/person/month=670 gm per month for 4
Self care in Diabetes: One should have diabetic card , should carry candy/biscuits while going for exercise /activities
Digital tools like apps / watch for activity monitoring / calorie monitoring / pill reminder/ follow up
