Please, can anyone tell me how much error is acceptable in XPS data? Let's suppose in the literature the value is 577.4, and in my test it shows 577.7 Is this an acceptable value? How much error is acceptable 0.3 or 0.5? I have done carbon correction after carbon correction i got thses values
correction in binding energy +/-0.6 eV is allowed, provided the carbon correction should be correct. The binding energy of the carbon is 284.79 eV. So, i think ur measurements are correct, may proceed further analysis...

In summary: On AVERAGE, your adventitious C1s binding energy is at 284.81+-0.25 eV. However, it could also be as high as 286.5 eV or as low as 284.0 eV, so you should at least be careful when using this method and rely more on other factors than absolute binding energy alone, like e.g. peak shapes (especially e.g. in the case of transition metals) or the Auger parameter.
Although there is not much difference, this may vary depending on your material. Is it a conductive material, an insulator or a semiconductor. Because in these cases there is a shift in the binding energy. You can correct this shift with Carbon or you can determine the Fermi level by work function calculation.
