I have a bacterial extract that contains about 70% fatty acids. I want to isolate fatty acids from the composition. Would you please advise me on a method/protocol?
I need a protocol that isolates fatty acids (such as linoleic acid and oleic acid) from a bacterial extract, preferably it converts them to methyl esters. I would be grateful if you could advise me.
I would recommend you to follow the procedure that is described in the following paper. It has a lot of precission and you can get very confident results:
· Huerta-González L., Wilbey R.A. (2001) Determination of free fatty acids produced in milk-based emulsions as a result of the lipolytic activity of lactic acid bacteria. Journal of Food Chemistry.Vol. 72, 301-307
Isolation of fast-growing thraustochytrids and seasonal variation on the fatty acid composition of thraustochytrids from mangrove regions of Navi Mumbai, India
But I have fatty acids composition. I only need to isolate fatty acids in a compound for cosmetic purposes. My compound contains 70 percent of fatty acid, and I want to remove the other 30 percent that is unusable.
I want to purify the whole fatty acid in my compound.
