I need to do research relative to women's sports . why does it have less of a following than men's sports ? does it depend on results ? does it depend on entertainment ? how much do stereotypes influence ?
Sports for all, it should not restricted by a boundaries, think as like education for same as sports. don't go by the achievement and follow the involvement, fitness, recreation and definitely some are proper athlete those who can achieve their goal as like boys. its definitely a skill not stereotype.
thinking about volleyball , despite being seen as a sport mainly played by girls especially by young people , at least in italy but not only , the men's national team has much more following and many more sponsors even though in recent years the women's national team has achieved good results . Why ?
Personally I don't think it is a matter of skills. Women sport is full of high achievers just like men sport. They are both environments in which one can see exceptional sporting competences in play.
I think culture plays an important part on this. The socio-cultural, historical and political backdrop is what defines sporting actions and development both for men and women. These promote narratives and stories which highlight some values over others, and promote certain types of behaviours and preferences over other.
In sum, I think if we really want to comprehend the development of sporting practices, both from the athlete, and the fan perspectives, we need to investigate the socio-cultural background, the political landscape and the historical side of the sport in question in that certain culture.
