Learning and teaching technology tools are developing very fast these days. This is mainly aiming to keep students engaged, motivated and strengthening their learning experience. Engineering is one of the most difficult programmes to deliver in higher education. What do you think what could we do differently to get these tools into engineering programmes and improve its delivery?!
The difficulty in converting engineering to E-learning is that a lot of workshop work, lab work, materials work and site work is practical by its very nature and cannot be converted. However, good videos can bring into the course details of large projects that the students would not otherwise be exposed to.

Totally agree and I believe that there are much can be done, in addition to e-learning digital technology tools, to make sure we sustain engineering graduates practical skills and competence!
In fact with the current market climate, it is not any more about the graduate knowledge and what they know. It is now more about what they can do, how they can do it creatively and what they can bring to the business!
Students can get engaged in building their own learning resources, as they are teaching what they are constructing of knowledge during the lab work, site work..etc. By providing students with the e-Learning Authoring Tools that provide interactivity and motivate learning, students can build their own learning resources that actually take them from being learners to productive learners (I'd say prosumer).
@Mais: When I got my engineering students to construct knowledge, they spent more time on it that they had ever budgetted for it!
