i am thinking of collaborating biomass to liquid fuel conversion process within the framework of industrial sectors for increasing the efficiency as well as commercialization of the biofuel. I am unaware of any fact but according to my assumption quite significant improvement can be obtain. i wish if you could further suggest me with some ideas.

if we want to check your assumption properly, we should resort to pinch technology. I give you the link to some classical papers on pinch technology down in the text. If you have waste heat from an industry, and you know how much heat you need at which temperature level for your process, you check using this one. If you send your email to fresner at stenum.at, I can send you some software also, which is quite easy to use.

Please note that "waste heat" is not the same as obtaining an industrial waste to heat (steam). If I understood your question correctly, you were referring to the later. The asnwer in that case would be "it depends". It depends on the available energy in your waste, relative to the energy demand of the original process. That would be a good initial approach: assume you can recover 100% of the energy (from the LHV) in your biomass or waste stream (which is far from true, but gives you a max limit) and divide that value by the total energy demand of your process. If that efficiency is not good enough for you, better look for other options (renewable energy from external sources)
BTW, pinch technology can help you to reduce the value of the total energy demand of your process, as the others said.
