In my view, Robots may be able to replace some of routine tasks which can be programmed. However, one has to assess cost effectiveness of deployment of Robots for such tasks.

However, for the tasks where thinking, human interaction , new research & developments, assessments of needs and translating them in real products and services is necessary, professionals involvement will be very much necessary. Robots may not be able to such work.

Robots need to be programmed by humans to do certain repeatable tedious work like what happens in production lines. They can not think to change any situation they are put in because as you said they have no mind.

Definitely Robots will take over Humans......trials have already been started for the same. use of Artificial Intelligence is increasing rapidly. This may take time but this will be happened surely

In my opinion, it is more about shifts in the job types. I guess Robots would be used in more regular / routine jobs (that lacks uncertainty) in the near future, whereas humans would be involved in more sophisticated and creative jobs (more jobs like this would be created at the same time machines replacing humans). Theoretically it should be possible to replace all human jobs by machines in the distant future, where it comes with the questions of society perceptions and the reasons of human existence.

This is an important question. In addition to the very helpful answers already given, there is a bit more to add.

Robots do well in performing mechanical, mindless tasks that many humans now perform. However, robots will not replace humans in performing what might best be called "human tasks" such as mathematics or cosmology or physics or chemistry or biology or music or art. The human side of such tasks requires insight and penetrating insight that robots totally lack.

I don't think so.

I totally agree with Prof. James F. Peters. Robots can not make or program themselves. They lack thinking and emotions because they are mindless and so they cannot react to any sudden serious situations unless being programmed to overcome by humans.
