Many rice producing countries in Asia announced that they will not export rice. Thailand, Vietnam, China, etc. warned that they will put a hold on rice export. On top of COVID-19 scare, we also witnessed locust destroying crops in many countries. What is the prospect of global food crisis in FY2021-2022?
We have large production of the food grains even though we have COVID-19 problem all over the world. However we should process and preserve food grains carefully .We Indians have large food production enough to cater the need of population.
Obviously COVID-19 will lead to world food crisis in near future.

You are an expert, you know that crises are recurring, this is a crisis that has antecedents in many phenomena that are occurring in the world, including the trade war between the United States and China. COVID_19 has bled the economies of all the countries of the planet, most of them stopped their main productive lines of wealth generation. It seems to me that this is a crisis of the economic base with strong impacts on the social superstructure, it is a crisis of the productive forces that is furiously holding back production relations. But you have to be a magician to be able to predict what will happen, we have no evidence to help us know how food production will behave in the coming years, but signs indicate that there will be a very deep crisis. Of course, COVID-19 will lead to world food crisis in near future. Although, most of the farmers are producing crops without knowing the effect of COVID-19. Anyhow,
more attention should be paid to produce crops and preserve the food grains for the near future.....
Paul Louangrath , there is the likelihood of a world food crisis. In Ghanaian context, farming is still on-going even in the middle of the Covid19 restrictions. The effect of the pandemic on supply chains will also affect the possibility of a food crisis. In Ghana where imports are very high, the pandemic will reduce the extent of importation and national leaders should be interested in how to leveraging local production or increasing processing of raw materials. We will wetness real food crisis for the major commodities specially in many developing and poor countries
Of course, any of the countries main working calendars/seasosn have been under the stress of Corona (Covid-19). However, except in few of the developed countries and more of the developing countries that are stable in their food security will not be affected by Corona. More of the countries including Ethiopia started a strategy with large scale production of commodities such as wheat, soybean and wheat. We shared a national vision to do the multiplication with large scale and finally, we can miitigate the food insecurity. In general, if the countries proceed with a strategy to produce surplus in food security crops, the negative effect can be mittigated to a level not significant.
COVID 19 affect economy of a country badly. If economy is affected it vl automatically affect our food. So we should grow more food crop to be stored.
Definitely, COVID-19 will lead to world food crisis in near future…... Although, Scientists, Farmers, Govt., and another people are working hard for supplying the demand/food security for the people of across the globe under this situation but there are several factors which can play the paramount role during Corona stress. As people are working but they have also fear that infection of Corona is increasing rapidly…..hence, their efficiency for productive work is somehow hampering and they are also thinking that life is more important than the making the money/working for the people.
COVID-19 identified in December 2019 and declared a pandemic by WHO. Food and nutritional security have marked the serious concerns worldwide due to threatening health crisis from this pandemic and history's biggest post lockdown phase. The pandemic may also have a serious impact on labor-intensive crop production and processing due to labour shortages and the temporary cessation of production. Farmers with perishable commodities e.g. milk, vegetables, eggs, meat and fishes have been faced drastic adversities due to disruption of supply chain and cold storage facilities.
I think a general crisis is approaching due to lack of food, not just rice, but all kinds of basic foods. And I think that unfortunately, the poor and less developed countries will bear the brunt.
