Is it really comparable.  A road , a networkd of physical transportation versus an economic globlalist model of which China is part.  

I am more for a stepping back from globalisation. China has gone global and is going continue to do so wherever the doors to capital and products are wide open.  I do not think that the policy of wide opening such doors is the wisest.    I live in a city where real estate market is wide open where nobody can afford to buy a property except foreigh investors.

I totally agree that China has gone global in the sense that it has participated in global trade for centuries. 

My question is more about the way China is "marketing" it's "One Belt, One Road" program as it projects it as a more open process than Western styled Globalisation. 

There is a very obvious difference in philosophy between the way the two world leaders of America and China as to how they are handling all major challenges that the world is now facing. 

One can watch China Global TV and its many programs, to  see the way China is influencing global opinion towards itself. To this we see the leadership role its President is playing at every global event. 

Having been working with China through Hong Kong since 1980  and since 2009 directly with mainland China without the hard sell we see now, I wonder if it will influence the "Way to Work Globally" in the future.

“China has a very deep rooted cultural heritage. The influence of Communism and Chairman Mao has brought to this country a socio- political discipline that for many years was considered negatively. However the progress of China as a world power has made many to look differently at this country and its people.

My experience in China and Hong Kong since 1979 has shown me that its people have a balance between deep cultural beliefs and behaviours, as well as discipline that Communism instilled into the country through Chairman Mao and his successors.

This country is very disciplined in work and social environments. Communication networks such as roads, railways, airways and information systems are reliable. Hotels and restaurants are well organised and offer high quality of service and food. Businesses are well run and able to meet any level of specified quality. Their management styles are strongly influenced by Chinese education and culture but are keenly aware of Western requirements and standards.

One gets a sense that, despite the enormity of China, we are dealing and communicating with “one country” without the extreme complexities one sees in Africa and India. Although some of the communication is done through translators, the non-verbal messages are clear: China is aligned to all the processes of Network Africa and is “Delivering results by Networking with all available resources”.

The discipline of the chineese has not much to do with Mao but more to do with its thousands of year history.  China is more one people than India because it had a centralized state for thousands of years and its cultures have been uniformed much further.  The reasons for the rapid rise of China economic powers are not limited to the last 40 years; there are more profound cultural roots to that rapid rise.  But it is not a rosy story.  Here we have a state capitalism based on a dictatorship of a single party controled by a few billionaire families with world wide goals.  The current plan has similarities with the US plan at the end of the WWII to global financial dominance.  It started with a Marshall plan.  This has resulted into the US dollar becoming the main currency of the international exchange.  China want to impose its currency now and replace the US dollar and it starts with global financing projects. I failed to feel enthusiasm for this hegemonious project, nor did I felt enthusiast for the US hegemonious project.

I am aware that Chinese history and culture  has had a key impact on the way they are at present. However their communist past has left behind some important behaviors that are present today in their socialist structures. 

I have spent some years living and working in India and experienced both the influence of their different religions, the legacy of British Colonial rule and the lasting influence of their Mogul history. It's a highly complex country but one of my special and more enjoyable years of my life spent there. 

The bureaucracy in India is very frustrating from a business point of view that does not compare with China that is effective. These are my experiences that could be different to that of others. 

I respect your final comments on being enthusiastic about the Chinese and US projects. 

Having worked in USA and worked with some of their big corporations, I prefer the Chinese model.

I was correct in stating in my book that Mao and communism in China have influenced its history and progress.

The Chinese Communist Party is the main force that drives that country into being the benchmark for others as America, Europe and Japan compete on development, trade, peacekeeping and innovation.
