I have completed my BSc. in Geography and Environment under Physical science. Now I am starting my MSc in Geography and Environment. Will anyone suggest me any recent research topic related with Remote sensing and GIS.
You might chech out my researchgate on some applications and analses where GIS, LIDAR were involved with stream density, watershed boundary, erosion and sediment calcs based on land use coefficients for several drainage size categories in an EIS, hydrologic condition analysis, gully extent, etc. With the subjects you mentioned and topics you listed, you may find some interesting topics. I hope you find the right subject, one you have interest in.
in my opinion, the research topic you could aim to depends on the time you have and the facilities (expertise, technical equipment, support) that you university will offer you.
I tell you that, because GIS and Remote Sensing (RS) are two very wide fields as you certainly know, and integrated methodologies are time consuming and require a lot of knowledge. Obviously depends on what you do and how. So, why not focusing on one geospatial field and dig it, rather than both?
However, I can't deny that a research that involves creating ad-hoc fresh new spatial datasets (RS, approachable to surveying) to further analyze in a GIS environment is very sexy..
So, here are my top 2 personal suggestions, researches that I would love to do, given my background:
1) Climate Change Effects Mitigation and Adaptation techniques in Low Lying Atolls community
Using low cost techniques with open source softwares (kites, Structure from Motion, Grass) to acquire aerial photos of atoll's shores and reefs to create DSM and Orthophoto for assessing the "effectivness" of their natural barrier systems (foredunes-like landforms, mangroves, beaches, reefs).
2) Tourists as mean of data capture for monitoring programs
Imagine any touristic lookout you have been to, and the pictures of the valley, river, waterfall, canyon, beach you took. Imagine encouraging tourists (via national park entrance discount) to upload their images to a cloud. You have daily images to correct for distortion, orthorectify and then GIS analyze. Create scripts that automate the process and baam, you have a stable long term monitoring program.
If you able to analysed the satellite data then there is vast scope for research eg. by land suitability analysis you can recommend the crop for specific region.
