Depending on AI too heavily can indeed lead to concerns about reduced innovation or novelty, as machines tend to optimize for efficiency and predictability rather than creativity. AI often works by analyzing existing data and patterns, which means it can sometimes perpetuate the status quo rather than generate new ideas.
Using AI as a tool to augment human creativity and decision-making, rather than replace it, could be a more balanced approach. This way, humans can leverage AI’s processing power and data analysis capabilities while still driving innovation with human creativity and intuition.

I mean AI can only reduce novelty ONLY if you write research with it as it does not produce new insights to your work. And many journals forbid to use AI for that. So no, it should not reduce novelty. Unless we talk about art, as images are made from training data so in that can it can. But again, artists should create art, not AI.
@Andrius Ambrutis , In my opinion and different discussions , AI may augment novelty it's UpTo the way it's being used and depends upon the creativity of the user . What is you take on that ?
Khawaja Zeeshan Waheed, I believe it can augment novelty, but maybe not in every area. That's a bit tricky. I guess it mostly depends on how AI is trained and what tasks it performs. But yes, in general, I can agree on that.
