Leading mechanical lives is one of the reasons why people have no time to do exhaustive research on English Literature. Human relationship has become commercial even among siblings. Everyone dreams of making quick buck which is symbolic of the 'American dream of success'.
There are many reasons behind this. In my opinion few among them are
1.Lack of awareness on research in language aspects
2.Due to the priority given to the Language rather than research
3.Commercially they may not be that much fruitful.
4.The most important one might be not having interest in doing research.
Hope the above are some of the reasons.
Yes, because of mechanical life man has no time to study literally with interest is one of the reasons besides ELT is on demand to meet the challenges of the job market. As a result modern man becomes disinterested towards literature which is always a fact.
