I'm working on a number of core substituted NDI based Donor-Accepter-Donor triads. Upon excitation at CT absorption band I get a dual emission band (a blue shifted band is weaker and is approximately located around CT abs band) only for N-substituted compounds. No such blue shifted band is observed for C-substituted triads.
Thank you Ahmed M. El-Zohry for the answer. Usually it is impossible to get LE emission by exciting CT absorption band unless the CT band have a contribution from LE absorbance. Moreover, if it is due to torsional motion, it should be also present in C-substituted compound which is not in my case. One of my N-substituted compound is with a fix moiety (no rotation possible, confirmed by low temperature abs also) but still it have dual emission. So I think my case is different from what you explained.
