Hello everyone,

i am using SWAT model to simulate Evapotranspiration (ET) at monthly time scales (for different sub-basins), i am using MODIS16 dataset for calibration and validation of SWAT model using SWAT-CUP SUFI2 algorithm.

I am calibrating model from 2000-2004, but for some months and in some sub-basins simulated ET is zero ( mm) or near zero while observed ET is in the range of 60-90 (mm), i.e which is unrealistic. I am giving here details of one such simulation

observed simulated

51.2140          52.2590                                 (Jan 2000)

50.0890          69.7720                                 (Feb 2000)

40.0000         18.4690                                  (March 2000)

34.7370          0.0000             zero               (april 2000)

54.6000          72.2720

63.2940         16.8530

54.5250          7.8570

74.5690         56.8390

86.4350         107.5320

97.5380         80.8660

91.9690         83.5810

67.7000         51.5750

54.0860         42.2860

30.9700         35.6070

25.9640         2.1700

45.5940         66.9820

53.7120        0.0000            zero

52.4890        0.0000            zero

53.0250        21.0080

68.9100       0.0000             zero

there are some questions that i have,

1.) does anybody has got o (mm) ET simulated values?

2.) what could be the reason for getting simulated ET is equal to 0? and why SWAT is giving ET is equal to 0.

3.) how to improve model simulation for these cases??

Thanks all.
