ResearchGate's automated algorithm can identify references only in uploaded full texts (machine-readable PDF files). For the example you referred to, the full text is missing, so that no references could be found. But please note also that the algorithm compares with ResearchGate's database of publications that is not complete, and the algorithm is far from being perfect. Therefore, rather often it does not identify all references in a text.

I have the same problems with the citations of my articles in Bulgarian. Your software doesn't find the references.

Sorry, I did not note before that your link was to the references section of the publication's page. There is indeed a full text in https://www.researchgate.net/publication/366718064. However, an algorithm will have problems with identifying the references in this article, and, as I wrote before, the algorithm looks for the cited publications in ResearchGate's database, where these cited publications are hardly present.

It is not possible to add references manually. But you may try this method developed by Andrejs Krauklis : https://www.researchgate.net/post/Method_for_Improving_Recognition_of_Citations_References_on_ResearchGate/1. It has to be applied before the full text will be uploaded. But again, it will not work if the cited publications are not present in ResearchGate.

Please note that I did not write about "my" software. I am a ResearchGate user like you, not a member of the staff. Staff members do not take part in these public discussions.
