Seedlings of vegetables (brinjal, chilli, tomato) were not affected by the presence of decomposable rice stubble in soil. But sowing of rice or wheat seeds in the same field with decomposable rice stubble showed yellowing of young plants. This was observed in fields without fertilizer application in each case and had significantly low ammonical and nitrate nitrogen than the fertilized field. Is it because of difference in crop spacing or is it crop specific?
