The reason why people evade taxes primarily(that applies for Pakistan also) is absence of trust towards the administration. People do not see their efforts being paid back. So, they don’t find a point of making efforts at all. There is a lack of transparency and accountability within the system that makes public question themselves whether their money is actually being used for their benefit or is gone into satisfying someone else’s vested interests.
from my point of view, the problem is not in the government system but in the trust between the people and the government.
Taxes have always existed, with the passage of time has changed its name. Although I do not know the tax system of Pakistan, I make my contribution from the dynamics that occur in Colombia, where we have a number of direct and indirect taxes. Part of these taxes nurture the national budget, to mention two axes of said budget Health and Education, these are fundamental rights of every citizen, which is far from the reality that is lived. In this order of idea the collections or income do not have a distribution for the population in general.
This can be due to the weakness of the government as well as the bad news that people hear. Because bad news has a much greater impact on a person's mental climate and their confidence. The minimum task of the government is to secure, promote employment and welfare. If the government cannot solve these issues for the people, they will be discouraged by the government. In my opinion, it is better to pay taxes be culturalize and the results of the country's development and development not only reach the public but also be visible.
Most of the people are not well aware of their responsibilities to pay taxes while living in a particular country. Tax collection system was also not so strong which could have bond the general population to pay taxes. Lack of trust in government and corrupt system was also one reason.
