I have sensing probe with free nitrogen and triazole group which is selectively sensing the Fe3+ but not sensing other metal-cations like transition metal ions and p-block elements like Al3+, Pb2+ etc. What could be the reason for the selectivity and what kind of interactions are helpful for binding....Please help me.

Each metal in the periodic table has specific affinity for certain ligands. Some metals prefer to coordinate with O donor and some with N donor ligands.The materials you are using for functionalization of MOF, probably form colored comlexes with iron(III) but not with Al(III) and Pb(II). So it is not expected that one sesing material can be used for many metals.

I agreed with your answer but I couldn't get the specific affinity. Can you explain in detail. And in case of iron (III) only stable complex is forming why not with other transition metals like Cr3+, Fe2+, Cu2+ etc.
Among others, ion radii play a major role. In your examples, the ions can have radii between 62 pm for Cr3+ and 133 pm for Pb2+.
In addition, depending on the electron configuration, the ions will have a preference for certain coordination modes (e.g. square planar vs tetrahedral), which not all ligands can provide.
