I am currently working on aodv protocol, energy efficiency of ad hoc wireless sensor nodes, an inside energy attack, i.e. a long route for sending traffic instead of following the right path a way of draining energy can be initiated, by the malevolent node, there is a dramatic fall in energy. Can someone suggests some methodology, by which these malevolent nodes can be found in the network?

Probably you can simulate a scenario with a test case using initial timestamp for the delivery of packets to the destination. You can perform this with varied timestamp and different routes for the same destination. Then calculate an average of the timestamp obtained for a random number of routes chosen. Finally, you can use this average time to identify or drop the node if there is no acknowledgement for your packet for a given route in this time period. This may not be exact as you have not chosen all the possible routes. But this random approach can help identify the malevolent nodes to a certain extent. Hope! this idea works for you.
