There are a number of hypotheses that suggest a form of UV radiation was emitted from The Man in the Turin Shroud (TS). One of these suggests the chromosomes from within the skin of TS Man emitted UV radiation in the form of a flash of UV ( wavelength 188 nm) directed outwards or perpendicular to TS Man's skin. But this raises the question how did the image come to be in the form of a negative image? The wave of the hypothetical UV radiation would have been of varying phase at the surface of the skin, yet the negative image demands the image is a minimum at the skin surface.
