Since the initiation of all PharmD programs in the US in 2000 (i.e., consonant with the beginning of what I have referred to in my research as the New Millennial University -- see my publication list for a copy of a pertinent articles) the number of PharmD programs and number PharmD academic faculty members has grown geometrically and the increase has continued to this day. However, academic scholarship among PharmD faculty members has not developed/grown in commensurate fashion (i.e., as indicated, for example, by the extremely low average level of annual output of related scholarly publications). In addition, contributions to significant new knowledge in the field has been even more stymied. There are stellar PharmD academics, but these are -- comparatively -- few and far between. Why?
