Global news channels speak a lot about cricket. Players always celebrate and look very happy. But I do not know what makes this sport so exciting. Maybe somebody could reveal this secret to me.
I was brought up by my mother to watch and understand cricket and my husband and I have always both liked it. It helps when you recognise the players who play for your country and support your team.
Then, before I retired, I used to go down (25 miles or so) to a research / professional meeting as a nurse practitioner. I arrived just before the meeting started but I had to remember to have my car radio on as a lot of the General Practitioners local to the city that I had driven to, asked me for the latest cricket score. I loved to be able to let them know; I got to know them well and was on really good terms with them. I think a lot maybe followed India and I followed England, but it was lovely camaraderie and I just liked to be able to inform them. As long as it is a good match, I don't really mind who wins (but I'm happier if England do - still!)
