Interesting question, which needs an in depth answer.
1) Job market. As far as the standard companies in the private sector are concerned, remuneration is almost at par with the other sex, depending upon the types of responsibilities & the abilities & capacities of the person concerned.Working females are directly and indirectly effected due to various reasons in a country like India. In the unorganised sector, they still get the left handed treatment.
2)The state governments have their own recruitment rules & serpentine methods in selection of their staff, which is time consuming. As compared to central government, where quality counts,& wherein action is quite quicker, the same cannot be said about the various state governments. Though the governments have made reservations for females, they do not get enough of them as there are a few applicants for higher posts. In the case of lower posts, the scenario is just the opposite.
A third aspect is the generation gap,as parents do not allow even learned females to opt for higher posts,as some of them may be in different out station places. Hence both in govt. & in private sectors, females are still not reckoned as a force either in governance or in the job market.Language is another problem, which puts spanners in the works. Will any higher educated female from North India opt for a position in South India? She will take at least 5 years to learn the language first, for this reason integration is only on paper.
