I prepared feedstock varying speed from 35 rpm to 51 rpm. I found feedstock viscosity decreases as speed increases within 35 to 43 rpm. But after 43 rpm, viscosity increases with the increase of speed. What might be the reason behind this occurrence.
Can depend on the type of feedstocks and temperature of processing. What type of feedstock are you using?
As you're dealing with multiphase feedstock, mixing quality could affect the viscosity and final properties in return. So, it could be due to well-developed and uniformity of the mixture at higher mixing speed.
The formulation of the feedstock (metal–binder mixture) is one of the most critical aspects. Some of the main requirements of the feedstock are good flowability and low viscosity, as increasing the shear rate results in pseudoplastic behaviour. The use of low amounts of binder produces high viscosity feedstock making the process difficult, while large amounts of binder provide low strength and may produce heterogeneous green parts.
yes it happens due to non-Newtonian behavior of feed ingredients.. the ingredients behave as pseudo plastics and viscosity increases with share.. you may try ribbon mixer... may b they helps best in mixing
