Why does my LC lens display low levels of transmission after filling with 5CB?

Hello,

I am trying to use 5CB as an LC material for making an LC lens. Unfortunately, after filling the lens, I find that the transmissivity reduces a lot. The liquid is whitish. Can anyone advice on how to make it completely transparent? Is it enough to simply heat it till the clearing temperature before filling and then cooling it down? Any help is highly appreciated.
