i have made a pechini synthesis of NiO, however, in calcination temperature above 300ºC to 450ºC, Ni Peaks appeared, and they disappeared at 700ºC. I found an article that this Ni formation is normal arround those temperatures, but they made their work in H2 atmosphere, and i have made the powder calcination in air.
Please, help me, guys.
I suppose that the exess of organic species you used firstly decomposes forming elemental carbon which reduces NiO. After the completion of this reduction process, Ni is oxidized back to NiO.

Garcia-Cerda, in your text, about fig 1, the exorhermic peak located between 300 and 550ºC, could be possible this peak to be promoted by NiO formation?
I have some NiO-GDC composites that, this exotermic peak increase with NiO content (%mass),as well as its area (the weight loss increase with NiO content). Could be possible this phenomenon is attributed to Ni Oxidation?
I dont think so. In this region between 300-550, the main process is the decomposition of the precursor or resin and their subsequent combustion. Also during these processes the NiO formation takes place.
